1. Identify phlebotomists roles, functions, and responsibilities according to healthcare.
2. Identify basic anatomy and physiology of the human body as it relates to specimen collection.
3. Identify medical terminology as is relates to phlebotomy.
4. Identify standard precautions and infection control protocols when collecting specimen.
5. Describe the additive and types of tests performed on the most commonly used collection tubes.
6. Identify variables that affect procedures and results; take appropriate corrective action when needed.
7. Demonstrate safe specimen collection from patients of all ages using a variety of equipment while adhering to healthcare regulations and facility protocol.
8. Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on equipment and instruments according to vendor care.
9. Demonstrate effective verbal and nonverbal communication skills when interacting with patients, families and healthcare team members.
10. Demonstrate proficiency in providing fundamental patient care in a safe, professional manner.
11. Meet requirements to sit for the Phlebotomist Certification Exam, Including 100 clinical hours (10 lab hours+90 rotation hours) and 100 successful unassisted venipunctures.
